Front Yards and Grass
One of the benefits the HOA provides to the community is regular mowing and maintenance in our front yards. We strive to have a beautiful community outlook and want all the yards in a healthy, trimmed and maintained manner. However, this benefit from the HOA doesn't mean that homeowners can ignore the front yards which was one of the topics discussed at our most recent board meetings. There are many yards that are beautifully kept and provide an excellent example of how homeowner and HOA meet together to achieve a common goal. This is something we would like to see in all the yards do and have a few suggestions to help you get started.
- Use specialized pesticides to target problem areas. If your grass has bare spots or ares where the grass is wilting or receding, chances are you have a pest problem. Look for signs of grubs, ants, snails and other pests and treat them accordingly.
- Use weed and feed to rejuvenate your yard. If your yard is covered in weeds or mostly brown and tangled, chances are weeds have overtaken your grass. Apply weed and feed to your lawn and you'll see results within weeks.
- Water your lawns. If your grass is generally sparse or thin, chances are you're not watering enough. Stage 1 Drought Requirements are in Effect for the city of Fort Worth but that doesn't mean you should turn off your sprinklers. Putting your sprinkler system on a regular schedule within the drought restrictions will still give your grass plenty of water to grow green and healthy. Click on this like HERE to read about the full requirements and set your watering days accordingly.
In short, odd numbers houses (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) are permitted to water on Sundays and Thursdays; even numbers houses (2, 4, 6, 8 or 0) may water on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Watering times are between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.
- Beautify your flowerbeds. If your flowerbeds are bare, have dead bushes, or are unkempt, chances are you'll be getting a violation notice. Bushes will be trimmed once a month by the landscaping agency, however, everything else is up to the homeowner when it comes to the flowerbeds, bushes and trees. These areas need to be well maintained on a regular basis. Homeowners should weed and/or mulch on a regular basis including any borders that have been added.
The board members will start to actively send out notices for yards that are not maintained according to the HOA regulations. Autumn is a great time to work on the yards and we are excited to see a noticeable improvement next month. If you have any questions you can email us and thank you for your continued support.
